A 3. Klasse Spanien-Kreuz in Bronze (ohne Schwerter), unsoldered eagles variant by an unknown maker. Instituted April 14, 1939, the Spanish Cross in Bronze without Swords was awarded to non-combatants for three months of service in Spain. It is constructed out of a die struck bronze base that has been bronze washed, burnished and finished in a protective lacquer coating. The obverse depicts a convex pebbled Maltese style cross with four Luftwaffe eagles to each corner, that has an encircled (separately soldered-on) mobile swastika to the center. The fullback reverse has a soldered-on c-shaped catch, a soldered-on block hinge and coke bottle pin. Minor oxidization. It measures 2 1/4 inches wide and tall.
