Matching - Seitengewehr/Hirschfänger für Forstbeamte der Luftwaffe by Chromolit Arthur Wingen Wingen (Son of the better known Anton Wingen Jr.) of Solingen and distributed by Waffen-Loesche of Berlin. The 8-inch long, drop forged, full tang, fullered, spear point blade on this one looks excellent. It is nicely maker marked “Ch. A.W.”, numbered “63”, distributor marked “Waffen-Loesche Berlin” and inspection marked “H” to the spine. The crossgrain looks excellent as you shine against the light. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade rates NM. It shows minor scratches and age grey throughout. The scabbard is steel based and black enamel painted. It shows minor spidering throughout, yet continues to hold 99% paint coverage and remains dent free. The frog lug and screw remain intact. It is numbered “63” to the reverse, matching the blade. The crossguard is tightly secured. The dual multitoned stag plates are in gorgeous condition. They are tightly secured with three screws, which show an attempt at removing them. This has a very early number. A very rare piece.
