SS Mitglied Brustrune Abzeichen by RZM A4/212. Introduced January 16, 1937, the SS Member’s Runic Breast Badge was for wear by former Allgemeine-SS, personnel serving with the Ordnungspolizei. In July 1943, wear of the runic SS breast badge was extended to all full-fledged SS personnel who were serving in one of the Waffen-SS units, with some restrictions. It is constructed out of hand embroidered rolled aluminum-silver bullion-flatwire to a cardboard base and a field gray wool backing and a glued on tan paper backing. The obverse features two silvered SS runes on a field gray background. The reverse features the glued-on tan paper backing with a SS RZM paper tag. Typical age. It measures 1 3/8 inches wide by 2 inches tall.
