A Luftwaffe Koppelschloß. Instituted 1938. The buckle is constructed out of a die stamped two-piece aluminum alloy (roundel) / steel base (buckle) that has all been silver washed. The obverse features a centrally placed second pattern Luftwaffe open winged eagle clutching a swastika in one of its talons, on top of an oval pebbled background, that is all encircled by a laurel leaf and berry wreath that is tied together at the bottom and all lies on a pebbled rectangular backing. The reverse displays four prong that hold the roundel in place, an integral catch and a steel pin/post sleeve assembly. It measures 2 7/16 inch wide by 1 7/8 inches high. Purchased from the veteran’s family.
