A Rare, Earliest Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by CAM - Carl August Meis of Solingen. Textbook Earliest era construction, dating this piece 1933 (c.June 1933 to pre-January 15,1934). This piece is extremely rare, and is the only earliest era one I’ve ever owned. Never been in a collection. The blade on this one is in ok condition. The stamped “CAM Solingen” maker mark and encircled “Ges. Geschützt” patent mark are both crisp and beautifully executed. The acid etched “Blut und Ehre!” motto remains intact, especially visible as you shine it in the light. The tip comes to a sharp point and the fit remains nice and tight. The blade rates Exc+. The cutting edge has been sharpened, there are also heavy scratches and age greying throughout. The buffer pad is lost. The sheet metal based black enamel painted scabbard looks ok. It retains 50% paint coverage. There is a wee bump to the very bottom. It has one small scabbard runner, held to the front with a copper rivet. The brown scabbard leather is in great condition. There is a small crack to the female end of the button strap. It has all of its rivets intact and the snap continues to work well. The iron-based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 95% of its plating. The grip plates are black checkered kautschuk and remain in near perfect condition. Both solid nickel-silver rivets remain tightly secured. The medium HJ diamond retains 98% of its enamel. Everything points to this being one of CAMs initially made HJ knives. A rare treat!
