A Kriegsabzeichen für Marineartillerie by Hermann Aurich of Dresden. Introduced June 24, 1941, the Navy Coastal Artillery Badge was awarded to the crews of Kriegsmarine land-based marine artillery and anti-aircraft units. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc base that has been gold gilded and silver washed. The obverse depicts an anti-aircraft gun that is in front of a coast, is surrounded by an oak leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom which is all below a Kriegsmarine eagle (with out-stretched wings, clutching a swastika within its talons). The fullback reverse is maker marked: “HA” and displays the correct; crimped-on gilded steel sheet metal hinge, crimped-on round wire tombak catch and round wire steel pin. All of the components continue to work well. It measures 1 5/8 inches wide by 2 1/8 inches tall. A rare maker of navy badges.
