SS 8 Year Long Service Award by Deschler
Type I - SS-Dienstauszeichnungen 3. Stufe für 8 Jahre by Deschler & Söhn of München. Instituted January 30, 1938, the SS Long Service Award would be awarded for eight years of service within the SS. It is constructed out of a die struck bronze base. The round shaped obverse features two centrally placed SS runes that are surrounded by an oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the bottom and is in front of a stagnant swastika which lies all on a pebbled field. The reverse reads: “Für Treue Dienste in der SS” (For Loyal Service in the SS) and is in front of an “8” and all lies on a pebbled field. To the top is the proper soldered on loop and tear drop suspension ring which holds 4 ¾ inches of cornflower blue ribbon. Slight verdigris oxidization. It measures approximately 1 ½ inches in diameter.
