RARE – Plakette Für die Förderung der Heimbeschaffund der Hitler-Jugend im Etui by Deschler & Sohne of München. Introduced in 1937, by Reichsjugendführer Balder von Schirach, the Medallion for Furthering the Hitler Youth Hostel Building Program was awarded to individuals who energetically assisted (e.g. oversaw the construction, gathered donations to facilitate the building, donated the property suitable for the hostel sites to be built, etc) in the Year of the HJ Hostel Building program. It is constructed out of a die stamped tombak base that has been silver washed and chemically burnished. The round shaped obverse features an arched flowing banner reading: “Heim der Hitlerjugend” above a Hitler Youth Leader emblem of a national eagle, with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed HJ diamond emblem in its talons. The reverse reads: “Für die Förderung der Heimbeschaffund der Hitler-Jugend” above a small maker mark “Deschler München” to the base of the rim. It measures 2 ¾ inches in diameter. The award comes house in its original issue case. It is constructed out of a wood and pressed cardboard base that is covered in a simulated black grained leatherette. The interior lid is lined in pearl satin and has an underlying pad. The bottom interior of the case has a separate insert which is constructed out of a cardboard base that is covered in a black velvet material that outlines award and has a reverse stand. To the very front is a round gilded steel button. The reverse has two small piano hinges. The top lid has two torn corners so it doesn’t quite the way it should. One soil spot to the interior lid. It measures 4 ½ inches wide by 4 ½ inches deep by 13/16 of an inch thick. A gorgeous display piece. Rare in the extreme.
