A Deutsches Jungvolk Leistungsabzeichen by RZM M1/15 - Ferdinand Hoffstätter of Bonn am Rhein. Instituted September 26, 1935, the DJ Proficiency Badge (DJ members were previously eligible for the Iron HJ Proficiency badge in June 1934) was awarded to DJ members who successfully passed a four-part aptitude test in athletics (sports), shooting (air-rifle), field exercises and political knowledge. The DJ proficiency badge was issued in only one grade and was discontinued in 1944. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc-alloy base that had been silver washed and lacquered. The obverse depicts a centrally placed mobile swastika surrounded by “Für Leistungen in der D.J.” (For Proficiency in the D.J.) above a Sig-rune. The fullback reverse features a soldered-on square plate holding a vertically placed well working pin assembly. It is also maker marked “RZM M1/15” and serialized “131246”. It measures 1 ¾ inches tall by 1 1/8 inches wide. Always nice to get an issued example.
