A M1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by Rich. Plümacher Sohn of Solingen. The blade on this one looks great. The pyramid encased exclamation point “Rich. Plümacher Sohn Solingen” maker mark is beautifully executed. The crossgrain remains visible as you shine it in the light. It has a sharp point and good fit. The blade on this one rates a Exc++. There are some rough areas to the edges, along with some age grey and clouding throughout. The original blue pebbled leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based airplane grey plated scabbard looks good. There are minor areas where the finish is lost and some oxidization spotting. It depicts awesome details throughout, with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns and the aluminum hand enhanced bands. It remains completely dent free. The reverse single headless throat retaining screw remain intact and unturned. The burnished aluminum Luftwaffe eagle crossguard has beautifully embossed details to its head, feathers, wings and top side oak leaves and acorns. The steel ferrule looks great. The aluminum pommel has traces of the original gold gilded swastika which is surrounded by oak leaves and acorns. The early trylon grip has aged to a nice orange tone over time. The dual twisted brass wire wrap remains tightly intact. The blade and hilt have a week wiggle. A fine example.
