A 1. Stufe Nahkampfspange in Bronze by Friedrich Linden of Lüdenscheid. The Bronze I Stage Close Combat Clasp was awarded for 15 close combat battles. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc-alloy base that has been bronze washed and brennlack finished. The obverse depicts a crossed model 24 grenade and K98 bayonet with oak leaves, acorns and lined rays all beneath a German national eagle. The reverse of the badge correctly displays; a soldered-on c-shaped catch, a soldered-on block hinge with nail head hinge-pin and coke bottle pin, along with a crimped-on steel backplate. It is also designer and maker marked; “Fec. W. E. Peekhause Berlin” and “FLL.”. The badge depicts beautiful details throughout. The zinc has absorbed all of the finish. It measures 3 7/8 inches wide by 1 inch tall.
