Hitler’s Dank Badge in Silver by PuC
Abzeichen “Hitler’s Dank für den Dienst am Volke” in Silber by Paulmann & Crone of Lüdenscheid. These were awarded, in silver and gold, as a token of appreciation to the people of Südhannover-Braunschweig district who assisted in the winter war efforts. It is constructed out of a die struck tombak base that has been silver washed and chemically burnished. The round shaped obverse features a left facing bust of Hitler, which is surrounded by “Hitler’s Dank” (top), “Gau Südhannover” (left), “Braunschweig” (right), “Für den Dienst am Volke” (bottom). The fullback reverse is maker marked: “Paulmann & Crone Lüdenscheid” and patent marked “Ges. Gesch.”. It also features a recessed soldered-on rectangular plate holding a vertically placed well working pin assembly. It measures 1 3/8 inches in diameter. Many districts and variations to collect.
