A 2. Stufe Nahkampfspange in Silber (12.2) by Steinhauer & Lück of Lüdenscheid. Instituted November 25, 1942, the Silver II Stage Close Combat Clasp was awarded for 30 close combat battles. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc-alloy base that has been silver washed. The obverse depicts a crossed model 24 grenade and K98 bayonet with oak leaves, acorns and lined rays all beneath a German national eagle. The reverse of the badge correctly displays; a raised circular outlined soldered-on round plate flatwire catch, a raised rectangular outlined soldered-on block hinge, nickel-silver fat bellied pin and a crimped blackened steel backplate. It measures 3 13/16 inches wide by 1 inch tall. Minor zinc pest to the crevasses. Nice silvering to the high points.
