A Funeral Grip - M1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by Robert Klaas of Solingen. The blade on this one looks great. The stamped kissing cranes “Robt Klaas Solingen” maker mark is beautifully executed. The crossgrain is gorgeous running the full length of the blade and is easily visible in the light. The fit and tip are both perfect. The blade rates an NM. There are some minor nicks to the cutting edge on both sides, along with the slightest age grey and scratches. The brown leather buffer pad remains intact. All of the fittings are generic/WKC which is textbook for this example. The steel based, airplane grey finished scabbard is in excellent condition. It depicts awesome details throughout, with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. There is a rougher area of the scabbard, just below the throat. The screws show no evidence of being turned and it remains completely dent free. The burnished aluminum based Luftwaffe eagle crossguard has amazing detail to its head, feathers, wings and top side embossed oak leaves and acorns. The steel ferrule look great with those proud oak leaves and acorns. The burnished aluminum pommel looks excellent with traces of gold gilding remaining to the swastika. The black funeral grip is a choice piece. It is in wonderful condition with the textbook style klaas double twisted wire wrap.
