Etched Blade - M1937 Fliegerdolch für Offiziere by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The etch was an upgrade privately purchased by a well-heeled officer. The Eickhorn pattern etched blade on this one looks great. The acid etch is dark, crisp and beautifully displays the Luftwaffe flying scene, flanked by intertwining floral motifs to the obverse. And to the reverse a decorative intertwined floral motif. It has a perfect fit and tip. Crossgrain also continues to remain visible. The blade on this one rates NM. It shows minor age spotting and surface scratches throughout. The blue pebbled leather buffer pad remains intact. The scabbard is steel based and airplane grey finished. It remains completely dent free. It depicts nice detail throughout, with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. There is minor oxidization spotting throughout. The both headless side throat retaining screw remains intact. The aluminum-alloy based burnished eagle crossguard has crisp detail throughout the eagle’s head, feathers, wings and top side oak leaves and acorns. The steel ferrule displays a nice oak-leaf and acorn pattern. The aluminum-alloy pommel looks excellent with the centered mobile swastika encircled by oak leaves and acorns. It also has great hand enhancing. The yellow trylon grip looks excellent being chip and crack free. Just the odd spot. The springy aluminum grip wire remains intact. Textbook Eickhorn configuration. A prized piece for any collector…
