A M1938 - 2nd Model Kriegsmarine Dolch für Offiziere by Paul Weyersburg. A bargain here! The acid etched fouled anchor blade on this one is very nice with a deep dark etch. The “Paul Weyersberg Solingen” maker mark is nicely executed! The tip comes to a sharp point and the fit is nice and tight! The blade on this one rates an Exc++. The leather buffer pad is intact. The lightning bold style scabbard is brass based and gold gilded. It depicts nice details throughout with the hand enhanced tip, lightning bolts and oak leaf and acorn bands! most of the gilt is gone and there is evidence at some point it was cleaned. Both throat retaining screws remain intact. There are small bumps throughout but no dents. The button continues to work well. The crossguard and pommel are also brass based and gold gilded. The unique proudly perched kreigsmarine eagle pommel are both beautifully detailed with nice gilt! The grip is wood based and covered in a white celluloid. The celluloid has many cracks throughout and is also chipped under the portepee. The brass double twisted wire wrap remains tightly intact! This whole thing has patinaed with time. So Paul Weyersberg made very few Navy's, this is a rare maker. A good piece at a great price!
