Modell 1938 Bahnschutz Dolch (2nd Model) by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The blade on this one looks excellent. The acid etched squirrel “Original Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark is dark, crisp and beautifully executed. The crossgrain is gorgeous, running the full length of the blade and is easily visible as you shine it in the light. The tip comes to a sharp point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade rates Exc++/NM. The tip has been slightly re-shaped, there is minor spotting and scratches throughout. The original brown leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel sheet metal silver plated scabbard has beautifully aged and patinaed with time. It has some scratches throughout and shows where a tag was on the back. It remains completely dent free. This variant has the thick throat with the single reverse retaining screw. The railway winged wheel crossguard is beautifully detailed with gorgeous silvered detail throughout. The scabbard, crossguard, ferrule pommel cap and top are all non-magnetic and silvered, featuring perfectly matching patina throughout. The black bakelite grip is in near perfect condition. One wee bump the lower rib on the obverse. It's a real treat when you see the lacquered finish hold up the silvering to the crevasses. A gorgeous piece.
