A Rare & Personalized - Model 1937 Reichsarbeitsdienst Führer Haumesser by Richard Abr. Herder of Solingen. The single edged, matte, clip point, fullered blade on this one looks excellent. The acid etched “Arbeit adelt” motto and “Rich. A. Herder Solingen” maker mark are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed. It holds a nice matte finish, as all RAD dagger blades should. The blade rates NM. There is some oxidization spotting and the common scratches throughout. The steel based, silver plated and heavily lacquered scabbard looks wonderful. It has a small scratched in personalization to the reverse, just below the throat: “H.W.” It remains completely dent-free. It displays wonderful details throughout, with the burnished: decorative swirls, random pebbling and wheat leaves. Both throat retaining screw remain intact. The scabbard sits perfectly up against the hilt. The nickel-silver based, silver plated and burnished hilt looks wonderful as well. The crossguard retains beautiful detail with the proud RAD emblem front and center. The mean looking eagle head pommel is crisp and beautiful. A rare and Textbook feature on these Herder’s is that they were made with trylon grip plates - even the miniatures. They show the odd scratch throughout, yet are perfectly fit with no cracks or chips. A beautiful piece by a rarer maker with all matching patina. This one is sure to please.
