Unique & Personalized - Early NSKK Dagger by HACO

Please note this item is no longer available and you were redirected to our Archives.

Early Model 1933 Nationalsozialistisches Kraftfahrkorps Dienstdolch by HACO of Berlin. HACO was actually not a manufacturer of daggers, rather a distributor, who purchased their inventory from other manufacturers. Given the design HACO most likely purchased their parts from one of the Shul makers: J.P. Sauer & Sohn, Wilh. Kober or Haenel. This piece is incredibly unique and has one of the best personalizations that I’ve encountered!

The unique blade on this one is what really makes this piece! The reverse is acid etched with the individual’s name: “Konrad Christ” in the same Gothic style script as the motto. Another great aspect of this personalization is that its depth is the same as the motto. Shallow personalizations can be suspect, but I have no doubts about this one! The acid etched “Alles für Deutschland” motto and “HACO Solingen” maker mark are both crisp and beautifully executed. Traces of crossgrain remain. The blade rates an Exc+. There is heavy age grey throughout, spotting and scratches throughout.

The scabbard is sheet metal based and black anodized. On May 19, 1936, NSKK-Korpsführer A. Hühnlein ordered all NSKK dagger scabbards to be black painted or factory-anodized to differentiate from the SA. Some members chose to paint their scabbard black (obviously the most economic), while others purchased new anodized scabbards in the authorized color. NSKK daggers manufactured in the Shul area have been encountered with black anodized scabbards. For many individuals, it is tempting to remove the black anodized scabbard from these type pieces and sell it as an SS scabbard. However, this is exactly how I got this piece and I am keeping it that way. The scabbard has some oxidization spotting and pressure marks throughout. It retains some of its original factory lacquer. The scalloped scabbard fittings are solid nickel-silver. They have scratches and bumps throughout. The ball has been pushed in. All four screws remain intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect.

The hilt looks wonderful. The solid nickel-silver crossguards are in wonderful shape, matching the scabbard fitting’s color perfectly. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gau stamped “B” (Berlin-Brundenburg). This is a Textbook feature for HACO. The grained brown oak hardwood grip is absolutely gorgeous. Again, a Textbook feature for Shul makers. The crossguard to grip fits are practically perfect. The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. I did have to do a once over wipe down on this piece as it looked to have been stored in the basement for 50+ years.

In my search to identify “Konrad Christ”, this came up as a potential: https://www.ipa.at/site/images/documents/fachartikel/Archiv/253christ.pdf
