Model 1938 - Technische Nothilfe (TeNo) Hauer für Mannschaften und Unterführer by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The single edged, clip point, fullered matte finished blade on this one looks great. The Teno Eagle emblem, “Ges. Gesch.” and seated squirrel holding a broad sword “Original Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark are dark, crisp and beautifully executed. Opposite to the maker mark, under the guard, it is stamped: “7355”-correctly matching the scabbard throat. The tip and fit are both perfect. The blade rates a Exc++. It shows scratches and minor spotting throughout and the slightest age grey. The original thick black leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard body looks excellent. It remains completely dent free and retains 99% of its original black enamel paint. The speckling in the photos looks as though it may have been re-painted but IMO its the original paint. The steel based plated fittings also look great, only minor bubbling. All four screws remain intact. The zinc-alloy based silver plated hilt looks good. The burnishing to the Paul Casberg-designed TeNo eagle and cog wheel really makes the details pop right out at you. It retains 33% of its plating. The thick celluloid grip plates remain completely crack and chip free. They are well fit and tightly secured with two oxidized screws. A fine example at a great price.
