A Model 1933 Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by RZM 120/34 SS (1934). For those who don’t know, these are early era SS contract daggers, not RZM era. The blade on this one has been cleaned lightening the etch somewhat. The acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and “RZM 120/34 SS” maker mark are both crisp and beautifully executed! The blade is nicely seated up against the hilt and the and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates an easy Exc++. The steel based black undented anodized scabbard looks good. It has a bit of oxidizing to the obverse. the finish is a bit mottled and i suspect someone at some point reblued it. The nickel-silver crossguards look excellent. All four scabbard screws remain intact and the ball has a wee bump but retains a nice round profile. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect. The scabbard is textbook for this maker, exhibiting the specific shallow ridge characteristics. The crossguards are correct matching the scabbard mounts perfectly. The reverse of the lower crossguard is district stamped “I” (Munich). The black died hardwood grip is in good condition. There is a flake out of the revers upper right crossguard fit. The solid nickel-silver eagle is wonderfully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 99% of its enamel and has a perfect fit. A excellent example!
