DRL Sports Badge in Bronze by K. Hensler
A DRL-Sportabzeichen in Bronze by Karl Hensler Pforzheim. The bronze grade DRL badge was awarded to men and women between the ages of 18-32 who passed five parts of national fitness test within a 12 month period. It is constructed out of a die struck bronze base that has been bronze washed and burnished. The oval shaped obverse depicts a centrally placed “DRL” in stylized letters which is surrounded by an oak leaf wreath which is tied together at the bottom with a ribbon and swastika. The reverse is maker marked “Hensler-Pforzheim D.R.G.M. 35269” and correctly displays a; soldered on block hinge, soldered on rectangular wire catch and flat wire pin. It measures 1 ½ inches wide by 1 7/8 inches tall. A rare maker!
