1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by C. Gustav Spitzer. A seldom seen maker on this one! The bright blade on this one looks great! The dark and crisp, acid etched 2nd variation "Gustav Spitzer Solingen" maker mark is beautifully executed. The crossgrain is easily visible from hilt to tip and it continues to hold a tight fit and perfect tip! Overall the blade rates a solid Exc++ with lots of crossgrain. It shows a few minor dots of age I have not tried to clean. The original buffer pad remains intact. Spitzer like most of the smaller producers choose not to make their own component rather they purchased their parts from other manufacturers. The steel based, airplane grey plated scabbard looks great! It is wonderfully detailed with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns throughout. It continues to remain dent free! The side screws remain intact and unturned. The matching patinaed eagle crossguard looks awesome! It is beautifully detailed throughout the eagles feathers, wings and top side embossed acorns and oak leaves! The steel ferrule and pommel are also both nicely detailed! The orange trylon grip looks good with some wear and rubs. It remains chip and crack-free! The double-twist brass wire wrap is in perfect condition and has a nice and tight fit. Included is a nice portepee.
