Here we have a M1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by R. Herder of Solingen. The blade on this example is a beauty. The fit is perfect, the tip is perfect and the acid etched "Rich. A. Herder Solingen" maker mark is clean. This is the second maker mark these guys used on their Luftwaffe offering. The blade rates NM with much crossgrain. The original buffer pad remains intact. The nickel plated generic scabbard looks good and has 99% of the plating intact. It has awesome details throughout, its original throat retaining screws remain and it's completely dent free! The aluminum eagle crossguard and pommel look excellent, nicely matching the scabbard bands! The hand enhanced eagle has amazing detail to its wings and top side, oak leaves and acorns. The pommel is beautifully hand enhanced with a proud swastika surrounded by oak leaves and acorns. The burnishing to the backgrounds really makes the details pop right out at you! The reverse has been engraved, "H. Werwie Trier Luxemburger Str. 31". This is so cool because this place remains to this day! The owner's name and address. This is one you can research. The orange trylon grip is one tone darker to the obverse. It remains chip and crack-free. The double twist copper wire wrap remains tightly secured and completely intact.
