A Kriegs-verdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern by Franz Jungwirth of Wien. The 2nd Class War Merit Cross with Swords was awarded to soldiers for exceptional service in battle above and beyond the call of duty. It is constructed out of a die struck bronze base that has been bronze washed and lacquered. It depicts a pebbled Maltese style cross and a wreathed swastika / “1939” (reverse) to the center. To the top is an integral loop and an 45 marked ring that holds 11 inches of original black, white and red rayon ribbon. It measures 1 15/16 inches wide and tall.
