Distributor Marked Eickhorn Army Dagger

A Model 1935 Heer Dolch by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The blade on this one looks good. The acid etched squirrel “Original Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark is dark, crisp and beautifully executed. Peek under the swas. and you find stamped: UNIFORM SPANGENMACHER" OVER "OLDENBURG iO". This is the distributor that originally supplied this dagger along with their location. There is crossgrain you can find as you turn it in the sun. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade rates Exc++ with jus a bit of age towards the tip. The original leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based nickel-silver plated scabbard is gorgeous with wonderful age patina. It provides great detail with the random pebbling throughout and hand enhanced oak leaf and acorn bands. It remains completely dent free and the original throat retaining screw continues to remain intact. The lead weight is a bit loose and in no way interferes with insertion of the blade. The 2nd generation crossguard shows some wear. The pommel and ferrule are also beautifully detailed with proud oak leaves and acorns. The deep orange trylon grip on this one shows a multitude of orange hues being darker to the obverse. This had a portepee on it at one time. Look at it and you can see lighter areas at the top and just above the ferule where the grip was protected from light. Completely patching patina throughout. Nice to find these distributor marked!
