2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger by Eickhorn
A black beauty M1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The factory polished blade on this one looks good. The stamped “Original Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark is clear. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. There is a bit of spotting and some age towards the tip. The blade on this one rates Exc+/Exc++. It has nice crossgrain. The blue pebbled leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based bent-free airplane grey plated scabbard looks good. It depicts good details throughout the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. It remains completely dent free and the two headless throat retaining screws remain intact. The aloy Luftwaffe eagle crossguard has amazing detail to its head, feathers, wings and top side embossed oak leaves and acorns. The steel ferrule and pommel look excellent as well. The two tone, ( darker to the obverse) trylon grip retains its' aluminum springy wire wrap remains tightly intact. It does show some wear but no cracks or chips. Finally look at those desirable gilt pommels! A nice example!
