Modell 1938 Wassershutzpolizei Dolch by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The double fullered, spear point, acid etched fouled anchor blade on this one looks excellent. The etching has dark and crisp panels that provide a wonderful contrast to the bright exterior. The early double oval stamped squirrel “Carl Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark is perfectly executed. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade on this one rates NM/Mint-. It only has scratches throughout. The original brown felt buffer pad continues to remain intact. The dent-free lightning bolt style scabbard is brass based and gold gilded. Much of the original gilt has worn revealing the original brass base. It depicts wonderful details, especially with the hand enhancing towards the tip. Both throat retaining screws remain intact and unturned. The button continues to work well and tightly secures the scabbard to the hilt. The crossguard and pommel are brass based and gold gilded. The fouled anchors to the crossguard and flaming ball pommel are all beautifully detailed. The grip is wood based and covered in a blue textured leather. There is verdigris to both the top and bottom of the grip. It continues to hold a wonderful leather wrap with a hardly noticeable seam. The brass double twisted wire wrap remains tightly intact. An extremely rare piece that is in wonderful condition!
