Die Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1. Oktober 1938. The Sudetenland - 1 October 1938 Commemorative Medal was awarded for participating in the occupation of Sudetenland and the occupation of Czechoslovakia in March 1939. It is constructed out of a die struck tombak base that has been bronze washed. The obverse depicts two unclothed men (one has a chain around his right wrist, the other is holding an NSDAP flag on a pole) that are standing on a pedestal that shows a German national eagle. The reverse reads: “1. Oktober 1938 Ein Volk Ein Reich Ein Führer” (October 1 1938 One People, One Empire, One Leader). To the top of the medal is a soldered-on loop and ring which holds 7.5 inches of red, black and white folded rayon ribbon. Minor wear. The medal measures 1 ¼ inches in diameter. The bronze wash and detail are great!
