A Beautiful, Rare & Personalized - Early Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Wilhelm Halbach of Solingen. Textbook 1934 construction. The blade on this one is beautiful. The stamped Halbach Christmas Tree “Solingen” maker mark and encircled “Ges. Geschützt” law protection mark are dark crisp and beautifully executed. Crossgrain is easily visible as you shine it in the light. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade rates NM. It shows age grey/spotting, and scratches throughout. There is also some gun grease in the scabbard. The brown leather buffer pad remains intact. The sheet metal based black enamel painted scabbard is in wonderful condition! It retains 95% paint coverage and it remains completely dent free. There is the odd spot of oxidization. It is personalized reading: “Dr. Edward W Murphy 851 S Josephine St Denver Colo. Munich 1936”, which matches the pommel top and also re-affirms textbook construction. It has one scabbard runner. The brown scabbard leather is in excellent condition! It is marked "LFS". It has all of its rivets intact and the snap continues to work well. The cast-iron based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 99%+ of its plating. The grip plates are black checkered bakelite and are in perfect condition. Both solid nickel-silver rivets remain tightly secured. The small HJ diamond retains 99%+ of its enamel. Really a wonderful example!
