M31 Mess Kit by Heinrich Ritter of Esslingen 1943. Standard issue, 1.7 liter capacity, dark greenpainted, kidney shaped, aluminum construction mess kit. There is a removable top lid which serves double duty as a plate or frying pan. It is maker marked: “HRE 43”. Each side of the mess kit body has a small, rivetted on, vertically oval, carrying handle mount, securing the round wire handle. It comes complete with leather strap. It measures 15cm tall, 16cm wide and 9cm deep.
