Kreigsmarine Säbel by Alcoso (Alexander Coppel) of Solingen ‐ Model No. 308. Tones of work and time went in these and it shows. This one has a great triple etched, single fuller, 30 ¾ inch long plated blade. The detail to the ships, anchors, Poseidon’s trident, vines and leaf motif are all intricate and stunning. The stamped weigh scale “ACS” (Alcoso Solingen) maker mark is perfectly executed. The tip is perfect as is the fit. The blade rates a Exc++. It shows the age grey, spotting and surface scratches throughout. The red felt buffer pad remains intact. The elaborate leather scabbard is in good shape. The leather shows age crazing throughout. All of the stitching remains intact. The scabbard has three ornate brass scabbard fittings that are each attached with a single staple. There is one pressure mark to the lowest fitting. The multi-piece cast brass fire gilded hilt looks great! There are elegant details throughout with oak leaves, acorns and the prominent fouled anchor. The lion head pommel display’s a red and green jeweled eye. The mane is all hand enhanced. The tang has been expertly hidden with hand work disguising it into the lion's mane. The grip is wood based and celluloid covered. There are chips and cracking throughout. The triple brass wire wrap is loose to some points yet all intact. A rare sword, never been in a collection!
