Model 1933 Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by SS 188/35 RZM - 1935. The blade on this one looks good. The acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and “SS 188/35 RZM” maker mark are both crisp and beautifully executed. The crossgrain looks excellent as you shine it in the light. The blade is nicely seated up against the hilt and the tip ends at a perfect point. The blade rates an Exc++/NM. It has little spotting and age grey throughout, along with the common scratches and runner marks. The sheet metal based black re-painted scabbard looks great. It remains completely dent free. The two nickel-silver scabbard fittings look great. There is the odd bruise throughout both fittings and the bottom has a small split by the one screw. The ball has a bump yet retains a round profile. All four scabbard screws remain intact. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect. The crossguards are solid nickel-silver and the patina matches the scabbard fittings perfectly. The reverse of the lower crossguard is district stamped “I” (Berlin). The grip is black died hardwood. It has been professionally repaired. The corners has chips that were filled in, there were cracks from top to bottom and the exterior was re-finished. A very nice job. The person who repaired the grip likely re-painted the scabbard at the same time. The solid nickel-silver eagle is wonderfully detailed. The SS roundel retains 99%+ of its enamel. A fine example.
