Gardener Allotment Membership Pin by Carl Poellath
Reichsbund Deutscher Kleingärtner (RDK) Mitgliedsabzeichen by Carl Poellath of Schrobenhausen. It always amazes me the variety organizations and obscure pieces for them all. It is constructed out of a multi-piece die struck tombak/cupal base that has been silver washed and contains green enamel work. The obverse features a centrally placed and separately applied national eagle with a mobile swastika on its chest above an oval green backing that reads “Reichsbund” (top) and “Deutscher Kleingärtner” (bottom). The fullback reverse is maker marked “Carl Poellath Schrobenhausen” and has a soldered/riveted on round plate and horizontally placed pin. The pin has been glued back in place and works perfectly. It measures 1 1/16 of an inch tall by 11/16 of an inch wide. A neat little piece missing from most collections!
