OGefr. Johann Aubry’s Document Group

A Multi-Piece - Document Group for Heer Obergefreiter (July 4, 1943) Johann (Hans) Karl Aubry. Aubry was born November 24, 1922, at Leobendorf, (Laufen) Salzach. Aubry was a member of the HJ prior to 1939. In 1939, Aubry had training with the RLB. The Arbeitsbuch has some work info. The Wehrpass is enclosed in a red faux leatherette cover, which has a gold foil pressed eagle above “Soldbuch & Personalaus Weis”. Inside are two pressed Edelweiss flower heads. Aubry’s occupation is lasted as a “Kaufmann” (Merchant/Trader). Aubry served with the 3./Geb. Div. Nachr. Abt. 54. Aubry won the following awards:

  • Eastern Front Medal (Ostmedaille) – September 23, 1942.
  • Drivers Badge in Bronze (Kraftfahrbewährungsabzeichen in Bronze) – December 3, 1943.
  • Wound Badge in Black (Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz) – October 30, 1943.
  • Infantry Assault Badge (Sturmabzeichen) – November 16, 1944.
  • 2nd Class War Merit Cross with Swords (Kriegs-verdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern) – September 1, 1944.
  • Drivers Badge in Silver (Kraftfahrbewährungsabzeichen in Silber) – January 15, 1945.
Included is a long list of service locations and dates along with some other misc. documents. August 30, 1945, and December 9 1945, documents from the Fourth Armored Division Rest Center list that Aubry (along with Oscar Aubry) was employed as a sailor and boatman, where: “His work was very satisfactory. (and) He was discharged without prejudice.”. Also included is a blown up 6x4 gloss copy of his Wehrpass photo. Aubry survived the war and come April 1, 1946; documents list him in Prien am Chiemsee where he had a Fussball-Club membership card. There is also an HJ transfer slip with a different name on it that was a part of the group. Included is a named Canteen. A very interesting group!
