United States - Group of Collar Disks & Badges
United States, c.WWII – Nine-Piece Collar Disks for Enlisted Men and Badges for Officers. Introduced October 8, 1907, by the War Department (Circular No. 68.) described the new insignia to be worn on the service uniforms. Constructed out of stamped brass that was gilded. They all measure approximately 1 inch in diameter. The group features:
- Corp of Engineers EM Left Collar Disk – Type 3a, 1937-1943 (bottom-left). Screwback device.
- U.S. EM/Officer Right Collar Badge – Type 3a, 1937-1943 (bottom- second to the left). No disk. Screwback device.
- Infantry EM Left Collar Disk – Type 3a, 1937-1943 (middle-left). Screwback device. Also has a male screw and round nut broken from the back side of a US collar disk.
- Air Service Officer Collar Badge Set– Type 5, 1942-1970 (top). All timmerman clutches.
- Air Service EM Collar Disk Set – Type 5, 1942-1970 (middle-right). With proper timmerman/ballou clutches.
- Infantry EM Collar Disk Set – Type 5, 1942-1970 (bottom-left). With two timmerman and one ballou clutches one missing.
Came from the family of a U.S. WWII veteran.
