Certainly, the darling of the collecting community and the most requested maker. Böker made the best SS dagger of the period. Their philosophy was based solely on the principle that “The best is just good enough.” Advanced collectors know this and they snap 'em up faster than I can find them!
A Model 1933 Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by Heinrich Böker & Co. of Solingen. The blade on this one is a stunning example! The acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto (which shows the Textbook characteristics) and chestnut tree “Böker Solingen” maker mark are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed. The crossgrain is exquisite and runs the full length of the blade. The tip is perfect as is the fit! The full blade rates NM. It shows the slightest spotting, greying and the common runner marks. The black anodized scabbard is in wonderful condition as well. The body has one wee pressure mark to the obverse but you have to look at just the right angle to see it. It holds some of its original factory lacquer. Both solid nickel scabbard fittings look excellent. They match the scabbard fittings in color and condition. The ball has a wee bruise. All four screws remain intact. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect. The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked “I” (Munich). The crossguards to grip fits are perfect. The dyed hardwood grip is in wonderful shape. It has the odd scratch and flake chip, but that's it. A beautiful dark tone and wonderful graining. You can hardly find them like this anymore… The solid nickel eagle has a perfect fit and retains beautiful detail. The SS runes retain 100% of its enamel and also has a perfect fit. This piece comes a worn vertical hanger. The leather is marked: “SS 18/34 RZM” (1934) and the nickel-silver clip is marked “A DRGM” (Assmann). The top strap has been period replaced and its rivet is missing. The bottom strap has some stitching holding it together. This hanger has clearly been on there forever and evidence shows throughout.
