RARE – Earliest Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by C. D. Schaaff of Solingen. Based on construction this piece can be dated to 1933. The blade on this one looks great. The acid etched “Blut und Ehere!” motto, stamped “C. D. Schaaff Solingen” maker mark and “Ges. Geschützt.” patent mark are all beautifully executed. The fit continues to remain nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates an Exc+. It has been cleaned and shows some age grey/spotting along with surface scratches throughout. There are also two wee nicks to the cutting edge. The buffer pad has been replaced. The steel based black re-painted scabbard is in excellent condition. There is some pitting spots. It remains dent free. It has a single small cloth covered runner. The brown leather hanger is in excellent condition. The snap continues to work well. The cast iron based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 80%+ of its plating. The quillion has cracks all around it but remains intact. The reverse grip plate has a repair. Both nickel-silver grip rivets remain tightly secured. The medium HJ diamond has 99%+ of its enamel. Textbook earliest era construction. A very rare example!
