British, WWII – Commando and Special Operations Executive (F/S) Knife by John Blyde - Clintockworks of Sheffield. Also known as the “Wood Handle Fat Boy” used by Air Crew and RCAF. The double edge, 175mm long blade on this one looks gorgeous. A wonderfully executed “John Blyde Clintockworks Sheffield Genius” maker mark. Beautiful crossgrain easily visible the entire length. A nice tight fit. It has minor spotting and surface scratches throughout. The tip also has a small catch. The three piece brown tanned leather scabbard looks great. All of the rivet remain intact. The snap continues to work well. It is marked: “Made in Sheffield Eng.” In between the belt slits. The stitching has come loose to the tip. The stamped brass crossguard is tightly secured. The grip is made of a single piece of wood. There are seven rings. The tang runs through the hilt and ends at a recessed nut. These knives were likely private purchased and continued to be used after the war. A neat variation.
