German Empire, Kingdom of Hungary, WWI - Three-Piece Medal Bar. Assembled, sometime around late-1934, for a Hungarian, front line, combatant, WWI veteran enlisted soldier who fought bravely, at home, in the Great War. From left to right:
- 2nd Class Iron Cross 1914 (Eisernes Kreuz II. Klasse 1914, reinstituted August 5, 1914).
- Honor Cross of the World War 1914/1918 with Swords (Das Ehrenkreuz des Weltkrieges 1914/1918, instituted July 13, 1934).
- Hungary - Commemorative Medal 1914-1918 for Combatants (Ungarische Weltkriegs-Erinnerungsmedaille für Frontkämpfer 1914-18, instituted May 26, 1929).
The bar consists of a stamped steel sheet metal base, that is covered to the front with each medal’s appropriate rayon ribbon and to the back with a red wool, assembled with red stitching. The reverse also shows the appropriate: round wire tombak pin, hinge and catch assembly. They all remain in well working condition. It measures 3 1/2 inches wide by 2 5/8 inches tall. Accompanying the award is the correct medal bar. A great assembly!
