A Textbook Model 1935 - Wehrmacht Heer Dolch by Paul Weyersberg of Solingen. An early, slant grip, tapered tang, textbook dagger. The plated blade on this one looks good. The acid etched encircled wreathed broad sword “Paul Weyersberg & Co. Solingen” maker mark is quite correct, see how far down it is on the blade? That too is exactly how some of these early ones were made. The fit is nice and tight and the tip is slightly blunted. The blade rates Exc+/Exc++. It is clean and there is minor wear and surface scratches throughout. The leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The steel based, nickel silver plated scabbard provides wonderful detail with the random pebbling and hand enhanced oak leaf and acorn bands. There is a small hit to the lower obverse. The original throat retaining screws remain intact. The tombak based nickel-silver plated 1st pattern P. Weyersberg crossguard provides beautiful details throughout the eagle’s head, wings, wreath, beak and chest. The pommel and ferrule are also beautifully detailed with proud oak leaves and acorns throughout. Nice burnishing to the fittings and scabbard. The desirable slant orange trylon grip has some fine cracks and a good chip out of the side. A heavy desirable early dagger with all the features you want!
