Feldgendarmerie Gorget

Wehrmacht Ringkragen “Feldgendarmerie” (Army Military Field Police). This half-moon shaped, multi-piece gorget is constructed out of a stamped sheet metal and alloy base that has been silver washed and contains luminous yellow and dark matte grey paint. The obverse displays a centrally placed Heer eagle, with out-stretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons, above a grey bannered “Feldgendarmerie” and below two buttons. The eagle and banner script all have a luminous yellow paint, allowing them to glow in the dark for identification at night. The reverse of the gorget still has its protective, cut-out, lacquered cardboard backing and displays two brazed tabs. The gorget comes complete with its matte silver washed, forty-two link, magnetic sheet metal suspension chain. It measures 6 ¼ inches wide by 4 ¼ inches tall. A great display item purchased from Vet's family by me.
