Imperial Prussian EM Belt Buckle

The rectangle buckle is constructed out of a die struck steel base that has been gold gilded. The obverse roundel depicts the Imperial king's crown on a smooth round background. The crown is above a half laurel leaf and berry wreath that is tied together at the bottom and is below the Army motto: "Gott Mit Uns" (God with us). The wreath and motto are in front of a decorative line type pattern which is encircled by two twisted ropes. The roundel lies on a smooth rectangular backing. The brass prongs and soldered on brass catch remain in good condition. The buckle shows age wear throughout. It continues to retain some gilt and retains good detail. It measures approximately 2 1/2 inch wide by 2 inches high. A fine piece.
