Here's a beautifully aged Luftwaffe Offizierschwert, (Officer’s Sword). The plated blade on this one rates Exc++. There is some minor age yet the tip is perfect, the fit is nice and tight and it has a beautifully executed Paul Weyersberg maker mark, above the correctly positioned waffen inspection stamp! The leather buffer pad remains intact. The blue, pebbled, leather scabbard body remains in excellent condition with 100% leather coverage! It has a few small pressure marks throughout but no break in the seam! The scabbard fittings remain dent free and have beautifully patinaed with age matching the hilt in color and wear. All of the screws remain intact and unturned. The scabbard sits perfectly up against the hilt. The hilt fittings are solid nickel with separately inserted brass swastikas. This method of creating the golden swastikas was quickly abandon for faster less labor intensive methods. The pommel has been cleaned a long time ago removing much of the silver from between the "legs" of the Swas's. It looks great with decorative hand enhanced oak leaves and acorns. The grip leather has a few light pressure marks. Both springy brass grip wires remain tightly intact. Overall a beautifully aged piece that demonstrates all the quality one comes to expect from an early example!
