A lovely Hirschfanger! The 13 inch blade is a triple acid etched example. It is correctly stamped with mid-period 1935-41 Eickhorn maker mark. The etch is nice and clear light having highly detailed panels depicting hunting scenes. There is no sharpening and the blade is very clean. The factory green felt buffer is intact, peek under there and you will see a factory assembler's number, "36". The tip and fit are perfect. The blade rates NM. The scabbard has fine black leather with 100% coverage. It has two decorative lines running the length of the scabbard on both sides. All of the stitching remains intact. Both undented matching brass fittings have scalloped edges. The staples are still intact, peek under the staples and again you will see wee numbers. The clamshell has good detail with a mighty lowing stag below an acorn and oak leaf spray. The crossguard reverse is a geometric design. The guard terminates with hand enhanced hooves. The pommel ends with a decorative cap. The grip is stag with 3 matching pinned brass acorns. A nice mid period example in great condition.
