A unique Hirschfanger! The 14 inch blade is a triple acid etched example. It is correctly stamped with an early 1933- 1935 double oval Eickhorn maker mark. The etch is nice and clear light having highly detailed panels depicting hunting scenes. There is no sharpening and the blade is clean with some minor age. The factory brown felt buffer is intact. The tip and fit are perfect. The blade rates Exc+/Exc++. The scabbard has black leather with good coverage and some scuffs. It has two decorative lines running the length of the scabbard on both sides. All of the stitching remains intact. Both undented matching brass fittings have scalloped edges. The staples are still intact, though the lower is sitting proud and needs a bit of attention. this fully seats into the hilt but is a bit loose. Really very nice hunting scene detail to the lower fitting. The clamshell has good detail with hunting dogs setting on a wild boar. The crossguard has a decorative oak leaf motif terminating with hand enhanced acorns. Never seen this pattern before. The grip is stag with 3 matching pinned brass acorns. This piece looks to have has someone take some metal cleaner to it a very long time ago as there is some remnants on some of the crevice's. I bit of time with a toothbrush could clean this up I'm sure.
