A 2. Klasse Tapferkeits und Verdienst Auszeichnung für Ostvölker in Silber in factory packet. The 2nd Class Ostvolk Medal in Silver was awarded for bravery to military and paramilitary personnel from the former Soviet Union. The award is constructed out of a die struck, zinc base that has been silver washed. The obverse depicts a centrally placed rosette flower that is surrounded by a laurel leaf wreath that is encircled by a rope pattern, on top of two crossed broad swords and an eight point sunburst pattern. The reverse shows a semi-hollow flat back. This piece comes with approximately 3 inches of folded over green and white ribbed rayon ribbon that has been stitched together. As with most of these the silver wash has been absorbed by the zinc. The award measures approximately 1 9/16 inches wide and tall. It continues to hold nice detail! the packet shows wee tears and age, complete with tissue.
