A M1938 - 2nd Model Kriegsmarine Dolch by WKC (Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie.) of Solingen. The double fullered, spear pointed, sailing ship etched blade on this one is gorgeous! The acid etched panels are crisp and beautifully detailed. The stamped knights head “WKC” maker mark is also perfectly executed. The tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates a solid NM. It has the common scratches and two wee spots. The original, correct WKC red felt buffer pad remains intact. The brass-based lightning bolt scabbard looks excellent. It features nice hand enhancing, great patina and remains dent free- which is very tough to come by on navy scabbards. It retains both of its original side throat screws. The cast brass crossguard and pommel provide wonderful detail to the anchor and proud eagle perched on top. The push button continues to work well. The desirable orange trylon grip looks excellent. Two wee hairline cracks to the reverse top along with odd spots throughout. It has the correct double twisted wire wrap, that remains nice and tight. The hilt/blade have a lose fit. This is the most desirable configuration of 2nd model Navy production daggers, with the exception of a hammered scabbard, yet it has the upgraded sailing ship etch!
