Here we have a 2nd Model Navy Dagger (Kriegsmarine Dolch) by WKC - Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Cie AG of Solingen that is an Imperial issue that's been period upgraded. The plain blade on this one looks good. There is also age gray. The stamped knights head "WKC" maker mark is clear. The fit is snug and the tip is perfect! The blade rates Exc++. It shows minor age spotting. The white felt buffer pad is intact. The brass based and gold gilded hammered scabbard looks great. It has some bumps and a dent 3" north of the obverse drag. The gilt is worn to the brass base. It provides beautiful aged patina and hand detail throughout the bands and decorative motif. This one has seen wear. It retains its original side throat retaining screws. The crossguard and pommel provide wonderful patina and detail to the anchor and proud eagle perched on top. The pommel has been upgraded, the option this guy chose when given the option in 1938. The there is no push button release as is found of many of these earlier pieces, The grip is a early goliath material that we do see on Imperial's from time to time. It has darkened some and has a sort of crackle finish that is common with this material. It has the correct double twisted wire wrap, that remains nice and tight. Finishing this is a bullion portepee that has been there forever. A beautiful piece with personality that deserves a great home!
