Kingdom of Bavaria, c.1905 - Jubiläumsmedaille für die Armee 1905 by Münchener Hauptmünze. Instituted March 12, 1905, by Prince Regent Luitpold, this was awarded to celebrate Luitpold’s 70-year military anniversary. A total of 22,033 medals were made. It is constructed out of a die stamped bronze base that has been bronze washed. The oval shaped obverse features a centrally placed portrait of Luitpold arched below “Luitpold Prinz Regent von Bayern” and above a laurel leaf a berry cluster. The reverse reads: “AM 70 Jahrestag Meines Dienst-antrittes der Bayer. Armee Gewidmet XII.III.MCMV”. To the top is an integral loop and ring which holds 6 inches of red and green rayon ribbon. The award measures 1 ¼ inches wide by 1 ½ inches tall.
